Making Disciples for Youth Ministers

Making the Most of your Time Making Disciples!

Why are we finding so many youth groups full of students but void of Disciples? Maybe we should ask ourselves if we are doing the right things or are we trying to do a lot of things. A busy schedule does not equal making disciples. Believe me, I've tried that.

Jesus spent 95% of His time with 12 people and 5% of His time with the multitudes. He was definitely committed to making disciples.

About the Book

Why are we finding so many youth groups full of students but void of Disciples? Maybe we should ask ourselves if we are doing the right things or are we trying to do a lot of things. A busy schedule does not equal making disciples. Believe me, I’ve tried that. Jesus spent 95% of His time with 12 people and 5% of His time with the multitudes. He was definitely committed to making disciples.

Jesus knew that when He stopped feeding the multitude, most would stop following. He knew that their cheers would eventually become jeers and cries for His execution. Eleven of His Disciples, though visibly shaken in the face of adversity, would eventually emerge from their fear and confusion to stand strong and become the voice and the force behind carrying the Gospel to the whole world.

Josh McDowell’s research says that 70% of the students currently in our youth groups will totally walk away from their faith in Christ by their senior year in college. That research and reality give all all of us great cause for concern and reason to truly evaluate Youth Ministry.

We must ask ourselves in Youth Ministry, How effective are we and are we about what Christ was about. Are we truly following His command to go and Make Disciples?
